A HUGE thank you to our friends from the Community Support from Tesco Store, Wellingborough. On a very cold and damp Wednesday during the Easter break they kindly gave up their time to help clear debris and vegetation from around the pond area. In a few hours we managed to not only fill a 14 yard skip but reveal much of the 'lost' landscaping in this corner of the grounds. Slowly, but surely we are 'winning the battle' to restore this area, opening up for the children to be inquisitive learners once more. There was certainly much excitement this week when some of them were introduced to our pond inhabitants, who despite all the recent building work continue to thrive!
Over the coming months (weather permitting) we shall be forging ahead with not only the pond refurbishment, but also redevelopment of the right hand side of the grounds between the workshop to create an 'all weather' play area which will also include a path between. Funding permitting we shall be overhauling the existing path that currently runs through the pond area, along the rear boundary and linking it to the new path in the 'all weather' area. Not only will this reflect the high standards of decor we strive to achieve internally, this will also give us endless opportunities to bring the curriculum outside; maths, english, science, geography, music and beyond.
We shall keep you updated as works progress!
