Welcome!

On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, I’d like to welcome you to Henry Chichele Primary School.

Henry Chichele Primary School is situated in the market town of Higham Ferrers.  We are set in extensive grounds, away from the main road.

We are a school which believes that every child and adult who is part of the school community has a right to feel happy, respected and valued.  We believe that all children deserve the best and our aim is to help them succeed by reaching their full potential in every area of school life.  We value the broad and balanced curriculum which our staff offers and all children are able to fully access not only academic, but creative and physical areas of the National Curriculum.

Each child is considered as a whole person; developing skills, concepts and attitudes necessary for the opportunities and experiences of the future.  We endeavour to motivate, support and inspire the children within our care and all successes are shared and celebrated.

The school was built in 2004 and has recently undergone extensive building works to make the school two form entry. The Planned Admission Number (PAN) was increased from 30 to 60 for the academic year 2014/15; we expect to be fully two form entry by 2020/21. The school comprises 14 classrooms, a fabulous multi-use room,  a large central hall, studio, offices and staff room.

The school grounds are secure, set with trees, hedges and fencework.  There is a pond area where the children can observe wildlife, outdoor shelters and a new 'all weather' area for the children to play and execise on.

Please find the link to our Prospectus here. We hope that you will read it to gain a sense of the value we place in each child and our desire to ensure standards, in all areas, remain as high as possible within a safe, secure, happy and caring community school.

Back in 2014 and before the building expansion programme started we began exploring the possibility of becoming an eco-school.

It all starts in the classroom

Eco-Schools is a growing phenomenon, which encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it. It starts in the classroom, it expands to the school and eventually fosters change in the community at large. Through this programme, young people experience a sense of achievement at being able to have a say in the environmental management policies of the school, ultimately steering them towards certification and the prestige which comes with being awarded a Green Flag. The Eco-Schools programme is an ideal way for schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community, while at the same time having a life-long positive impact on the lives of our young people, their families, school staff and local authorities. More information can be found on the following link about Eco-Schools.

On Friday, 22nd March 2019 we shall be launching Eco-Schools with the Big School Clean-Up and a 'Love My Hebe' planting event. The idea is to involve the children, staff and governors to bring along a Hebe plant (any variety) for planting on the bank adjacent to the top pedestrain bank during the day. The children will be encourage to tend their plant, watching it grow and flourish alongside themselves and a lasting legacy as they move onto the next stage of their school career.

Sincere thanks to two of our parents, Mr and Mrs Vaughan, of Hydroponics, Wellingborough, for their generous donation of compost for planting and wooden plant stakes for the children to be able to write their name to identify their plant and Bosworth Garden Centre for the offer of 10% discount. Tandee Nursery, Barnwell have also committed to 10% discount.
